Materials:
Tan cotton, white cotton pique, white cotton under-shirt, white cotton braid, 5 bone buttons, 6 mother of pearl buttons, brass hook.

Provenance: Dress was worn by Harris Whittemore Jr. (b. 1894 d. 1974) of Naugatuck, CT. The Whittemore family was a leading and prominent 19th and 20th century CT. family.  Harris Jr. had his portrait painted in 1898 by Mary Cassatt.  In this portrait, called "Boy With Golden Curls", he is wearing a blue dress similar to this one. I can provide the buyer with extensive family provenance and documentation.

Condition:  Perfect. Missing is the cloth scarf that would have tied in front under the collar.

Measurements: Sh-Sh, 10.5"; Slv L, 14"; Chest, 27"; W, 23"; Dress L, 22".

Comments: Until well into the early 20th century, boys under the age of eight wore dresses.
