lingerie lace, metal hooks and eyes, 8 self covered buttons.
Provenance: Robe belonged to socialite
Georgie Smith Young Ridgley Hebbard Wilkins. Georgie was born in San
Francisco, c. 1906. She lived in Baltimore, New York City and Paris
before moving to Beacon Hill, Boston where she lived for over 50 years
until her death in 2001.
Condition: Excellent. Very bottom edge
of hem has some soiling (only noticeable from inside of robe).
Measurements: Sh-Sh, 13.5"; B,
36"; W, 28"; Front Robe L, 58"; Back Robe L, 60".
Comments: Flattering tie back waist and
plunging neckline on this early 1940s peignoir. This robe was probably
made during the war years when natural fabrics were not readily
available.
