#2628  Silk Bonnet   c. 1820-1830

Materials:
 
Ivory silk faille, fringed ivory ribbon, two small white ostrich feathers and one egret, small cloth flowers, plain satin ribbon ties (not original), silk taffeta lining; bonnet frame constructed of wire, cardboard and buckram.

Condition: Very Good. One 2.5" split in silk on bonnet crown, a few small holes in back of crown, cloth flowers slightly damaged. Silk taffeta brim lining stained and split.

Measurements: Height, 12"; Depth, 11"; Brim, 7.5".

Comments: Very rare covered silk bonnet with original trimming. The feather and flower arrangement is typical millinery fashion during the first quarter of the 19th century.
