Materials: Sage green silk faille, 10
mother of pearl and abalone buttons, mauve and gold silk chenille
fringe, brown glazed cotton lining, buckram lined train, 8 stays, steel
hooks and eyes.
Provenance: Dress belonged to
Mrs. Barbara Monaghan of Bryn Mawr,
Pennsylvania.
Condition: Excellent. Some minor
underarm stains, otherwise the fabric and construction is perfect.

Comments: Machine and hand stitched,
this bustle outfit is beautifully constructed from an elegant silk
faille. The long jacket, symmetrically designed skirt front and lower
back draping with skirt train date this to the latter part of the 1870s.
The jacket has a small exterior watch pocket is on its left side and the
skirt has a larger hidden interior pocket. No alterations and high
quality workmanship make this antique bustle costume museum quality.
