  United States

Materials:
Pale gray green silk taffeta with green and purple windowpane check and a woven purple stripe; purple silk cord trim, black bobbin lace, glazed cotton linings, 7 stays, brass hook and eyes.

Condition: Excellent; 2 inches of cord trim is missing from under each of the sleeve caps;  moderate underarm stains.

Measurements: Sh-Sh, 20"; B, 34"; W, 25"; Sh-W, 14.5"; Slv L, 23.5"; skirt L, 44.5"; Hem C, 154".

Comments: All of the hand stitching on this fully lined, one piece dress is meticulously done. The neckline, armscyes, and waist are all piped in self fabric. The dress fabric is luxurious and quite sophisticated for its time; most likely a costly import.  The wide double pagoda sleeve, curved back bodice seam and the triple box pleated skirt date this to the mid 1850s. The undersleeves shown in the photographs are sold separately as item #2087.
