#0705   Handmade Brussels Lace Coat

c. 1915       Belgium

Materials: Linen thread worked into Duchesse bobbin lace, bordered at front opening w/a band of torchon bobbin lace.

Condition:  Excellent. Some minor repairs have been done near right shoulder. A small piece of duchesse lace has been added for strength at the center back creating a pleasing yoke effect. Overall, the lace on this coat is in extraordinary condition.

Measurements: L from sh to hem, 51"; hem C, 108"; slv opening, 32". The bell sleeves, full swing cut to the coat and absence of front closure allows this elegant piece to be worn by sizes 8-12.)

Comments: The lace design on this coat speaks for itself: it is simply magnificent. Rarely were whole garments made from duchesse lace; it was too costly and time consuming to make. This coat is museum quality.
